MetaCheck is a tool for testing metafiles for conformance to the rules ofthe Computer Graphics Metafile (CGM) standard. It has been chosen as themetafile testing tool for the CGM test program of NIST, as well as forgraphics standards testing programs in the European Community.In addition to the detection and diagnosis of invalid metafiles,MetaCheck contains extensive functionality for tracing and summarizingmetafile contents, at one of five levels of detail. An option to checkfor analysis features makes MetaCheck an indispensable development toolfor CGM application developers. Users of CGM application tools can alsouse MetaCheck to detect and screen invalid metafiles.MetaCheck is a command line interface program. It may be invoked directlyby users as well as spawned from shell scripts or executing programs. Theoutput is designed to combine with standard UNIX tools to produce usefulsubset reports on metafile element utilization and parameter value usage.
